Ethereum sucks due to the gas fees, not because of tokenomics. It was ok so far cause it had first mover advantage on trends like nfts and early adopters (now whales) were/are willing to pay the massive fees. Any transaction of ERC20 based tokens results in high gas fees. The space will grow exactly because there's alternatives that complement ethereum and can bridge back to it. Eth will remain as mediation layer but most projects (gaming, defi, metaverse) will be built on other chains over the next 2-3 years as we hit more than a billion users. Then all bets are off.
Helium this month has also had some growing pains.

A 51% attack on bitcoin can not be used to change the code… what it can do is to censor some transactions, or try to make a double spending (this is just to gain some time, but can be prevented by waiting more confirmations)
