Japan did have a massive asset bubble and they just passed all the losses to government, and they did all they could do to avoid it bursting, giving a terrible legacy for generations. Bubbles should burst and get bad capital get bankrupted. Every one seems to have forgotten that people's money bailed out Wall Street and now is bailing out insolvent governments.
